We understand that a leaking roof can be a traumatic experience for any homeowner. Unfortunately, not all leak remedies are as simple as replacing a cracked tile, or merely applying some silicon to an exposed flashing.
When the source of water-ingress is not obvious, we carry out ‘leak detection works’, meaning that we thoroughly investigate the issue in order for us to conclusively identify and isolate the leak point and repair accordingly on the day.
The investigation works consist of lifting multiple sections of roof fabric (tile or tin) so that we can track the water-staining along the roof timbers and topside of ceiling, in turn isolating the point of ingress, sometimes entering via a completely different area of the roof than anticipated.
Ultimately, we will never speculate at a repair.
Once the leak issue has been resolved, we remove any small amount of insulation that has been compromised by the leak, allowing the topside of the ceiling to adequately breathe and dry, preventing any future mould issues.
All too often we see previous repair attempts where silicon has been crudely applied, which in many cases can make the leak issue even worse than previous.
Upon completion, the homeowner will be provided with photographic evidence of exactly how the water was entering their property, along with photos of the subsequent repair, leaving the homeowner with peace of mind that the issue has been resolved.
